Food that has experienced digestion process in mouth then enters into pharynx. Pharynx is back part of mouth that also upper part (bagian atas) of throat. In pharynx is found hole that is located in part that goes to throat called glottis with its valve (klep) is epiglottis.
Throat has shape like pipe of length in the adult people is about 25 cm. Its edge (pangkal) is found in neck, it goes to behind of throat, chest region, behind lung, penetrates ( menembus) body cavity separator (sekat rongga badan tulang belakang), and finally ended to stomach.
In the throat, food is not digested (tidak dicerna) but only passing through. Then, food will enter into stomach, because the presence (adanya) of peristaltic movement of throat. The peristaltic movement happens because in throat its wall consist of smooth muscle that composed enlengthen and circular that can wrinkles (mengerut ) and looses (mengendur) alternatingly so it causes movement of kneading (meremas) and pushing food, so that food enters into the stomach.
